Anna Sopko

Anna Sopko, 89, of Vandling, died Wednesday afternoon at the Carbondale Nursing Home. Her husband John Sopko died in 1996.

Born February 26, 1924, in Vandling, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Fritz Derbin. Anna attended Vandling School and was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Ascension Parish, Forest City. She was a seamstress at Pangee Dress Factory prior to retirement. She enjoyed playing cards, BINGO and search words. Anna was an excellent baker and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by daughters Carol Murnock, Jermyn; Joyce Pevec and husband David, Browndale; and Stella Egnatovich, Clifford; a sister Mary Jasinski, Texas; grandchildren, John, Susan, David, Christopher, Wendy and Jason; great grandchildren, Jake, Kirstin, Mason, and Aundrea; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and John; sisters Sophie, Josephine, and Frances; a grandson Mark; and a son-in-law, James Murnock.

Funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Forest City.

Viewing on Friday from 5-8 pm.
