Agnes Susco Obituary

Agnes Mary Susco, 95, died Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the Forest City Nursing home. Her husband, Thomas Susco, of nearly 74 years, died January 13, 2023.

Born January 17, 1928 in Pleasant Mount, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Petrochic Bezek, Agnes was the youngest of 10 children. Upon graduating in 1945 from Pleasant Mount High School, she moved to Forest City and began working at the Newberry’s 5 and Dime store. It is there working behind the ribbon counter that she met Tom, and there began a wonderful 75+ year relationship. She was a member of St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Forest City, and enjoyed working at many church activities and highlighting her sewing skills by mending many sacramental items. A woman of great faith, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Aggie will be remembered for her generosity, loyalty, and devotion.

Spending her working years in the local garment industry, Aggie was an accomplished seamstress. She was always busy either altering clothes for family and friends or making children’s costumes and clothes. In addition, she spent hours quilting a variety of one-of-a-kind heirlooms. While she will be missed by many, she leaves behind a legacy of handcrafted items that the lucky recipients will treasure forever. When she wasn’t quilting, Aggie could be found in the kitchen baking potica, or her favorite cookie recipe. Aggie was also a cub scout den mother for her sons.

Aggie is survived by her four sons, Thomas and wife, Nancy, Reston, VA; Mark and wife, Barbara, Mt Lebanon, PA ; Dr. David, Durham, NC; and Joel and wife, Dr. Michelle, Clifton, VA; her 9 grandchildren, Dr. Tom; Dr. Ben (Dr. Kate); Dr. Lauren (Bill), Jennifer (Joe); Douglas (Liz); Scott; Catey (Paul), Chris(Elizabeth) and Caroline; 8 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Victoria, Grant, Diana, Lillian, Abigail and Madeline; her sister, Mildred Amadio and sister-in-law, Alice Susco, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy, and her siblings and their spouses, Mary Calame(Pierre), Anna Pazel (Bill), Frances Warring, Frank Bezek (Marge), Pauline Schum (Frank), Sophie Korosec (Joseph), John Bezek (Ann), Dorothy Suhadolnik (Robert) and Ricco Amadio.

The family wishes to thank, Kathy, and the entire staff at the Forest City Nursing Home for taking such good and tireless care of Aggie during her nearly 3 year stay.
