Rita Burnis Obituary

Rita R. Burnis, 96, of Forest City, died Thursday morning at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. Her husband Walter J. Burnis died in 2003.

Born May 18, 1922 in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Remshaw. Rita was a 1939 graduate of Forest City High School and a member of Ascension Parish. Prior to retirement she worked at Gentex in Simpson. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. The light of her life was her grandson Christopher.

Surviving are two sons, David Burnis and wife Rachel, Browndale, and Richard Burnis and husband Harry Nealon, Clarks Summit; a grandson Christopher; several nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by a son Robert; a brother Donald, and sisters Ann, Marion, and Mildred.

A Blessing Service will be Monday at 10am in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main Street, Simpson with interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing will be Sunday from 5 to 7pm.
