John S. Bezek

John S. Bezek, 94, of Waymart, died Tuesday at the Forest City Nursing Center. His wife of 67 years is the late Anna Bezek who died in 2012.

Born June 22, 1923 in Pleasant Mount, he is the son of the later Frank and Mary Petrocich Bezek.

John was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish, Pleasant Mount where he served as an usher and sang in the choir. He was Mt. Pleasant Twp. Supervisor from January 1958 to December 1969. John was a dairy farmer and after he sold his animals worked for E. Sodan and Sons, Honesdale. He enjoyed Country and Western music and movies.

Surviving is a daughter Patricia A. Bezek, Abington; three sisters Dorothy Sohadolnick, Abington, Mildren Amadio, VA, and Agnes Susco and husband Thomas, Forest City; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by twin daughters Arlene Snyder and Eileen Bezek, a brother Frank Bezek, and five sisters Mary Calame, Frances Warring, Ann Pazel, Pauline Schum and Sophie Korosec.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10am in St. James Church, Pleasant Mount. Viewing will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main Street, Simpson and from 9 am until mass time at the church. Interment in St. James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
