Victoria (Panuska) Swanson

Victoria Swanson, 59, of Union Dale, died Tuesday evening at the Carbondale Nursing Home.

Born February 12, 1957 in Valley Stream, NY, daughter of the late Robert and Helen Harrington Panuska. She was a graduate of Valley Stream North High School and earned an associates degree from the NEIU. Prior to retirement Vickie worked for William Penn Apartments, Forest City. She was one of four women that were admitted to the first class of the Merchant Marines in Kings Point. She loved to travel and cruise. She enjoyed water skiing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters Erika Swanson, Union Dale, Taryn Swanson, Union Dale, and Erin Swanson-Batman and husband Brad, Lewisburg; grandchildren Ryan, Taylor, Tyler, Lilly, and Gavin; a sister Carol Panuska, Forest City; a brother Bruce Panuska and wife Carla, Albuquerque, NM; best friends since childhood Mary Karanik, Trenton, NJ and Jolene Paterson, Stony Brook, NY.

Also preceded in death by a brother Brian Panuska.

Funeral service will be Friday at 10am in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Viewing will be Thursday from 6-8pm. Interment in Valley View Memorial Park, Jermyn.
