Thomas J. Butler, 83, of Lenox Twp, died Friday evening at home. His wife is the former Judy Smalley and they would have celebrated their 25th anniversary on October 31.

Born March 7, 1933 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late David and Mercy Cox Butler. Tom served in the Army during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, Tom worked for NEP Telephone Company. He was a funeral attendant at the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home and a staple in the Forest City community. He was a Past Master and Chaplain of Mount Hermon Lodge #472, of the Free and Accepted Masons, Uniondale. He was a former Mayor of Vandling, Forest City's Distinguished Citizen, and he volunteered at the Forest City Senior Center and area nursing homes. He will be missed by his family and the entire community.

Also surviving are children Scott Butler, TN; Becky Butler, Forest City; Glen Butler and wife Jennifer, Vandling; Edward Jumper and wife Stephanie, VA; and Scott Jumper, Philadelphia; a brother David Butler and wife Ann, Vandling;10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Trevor.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Clifford United Methodist Church, Route 106, Main Street, Clifford. Interment will take place at a later date.

Viewing will be in the church, Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm and Wednesday from 10am until service time.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
