Welcome to the memorial page for

Pearl T. (Karwaski) Murphy

July 9, 1940 ~ May 16, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Pearl T. Murphy, 76, of Union Dale, died Tuesday afternoon at home. Together 60 years, her husband is John Martin Murphy.

Born July 9, 1940, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Pauline “Pearl” Sandrowicz Karwaski. Pearl was a graduate of South Catholic High School She loved school, bandstand, and dancing. She auditioned for the Rockettes and was chosen, but her father did not want her to move to NYC. From the time she was young she worked first at Moosic Bakery, then as a diamond drill bit setter at Spragen Henwood, and for the past 50 yrs as the business manager for Murphy Well Drilling.

There was saying in the Murphy household, “When they made moms, they made MOM.” Everyone who met pearl called her “Mom”, and she gave plenty of “mothering” advice to people over the years, like it or not.

Pearls greatest love was her family-she married John, the love of her life, and together they lived through the good times and bad, and stayed side by side, through sickness and health. Her love for her children was just as pure-her only wish for them was to be happy and healthy. There was never pressure to live a certain way or to be anything other than yourself. Mom loved unconditionally, and that love is, and will always be, reciprocated, by everyone who was blessed to know her. She will be missed.
