Clara M. (Menart) Sever

Clara M. Sever, RN, 88, of Vandling died Thursday morning at the Forest City Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late John Paul Sever, who died in 1986. They were married on August 24, 1950.

Born August 5, 1928 in Vandling, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Christina Glavich Menart. Clara was a graduate of Vandling High School and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to retirement, she was a registered nurse working in pediatrics. She was a member of Ascension Parish, St. Ann's Lodge, The Slovenian Union of America, the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, and a life time member of the KSKJ. Clara served as treasurer of the Vandling Borough and was a correspondent for the Scranton Times. She lived in her family homestead for 88 years. Clara will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are children Robert Sever and wife Mary, Stroudsburg; Nancy Muniz and husband Robert, Las Vegas, NV; Paul Sever and wife Jerrilee, Salmon, ID; and Carl Sever and wife Tami, Kunkletown; a daughter in law, Lori Sever, Severna Park, MD; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Phillip, Kira, Courtney, Tessa, Gary, and Cassie; a great granddaughter, Lillian Ryan "Lily" Sever; a sister Margaret Menart, Binghamton, NY; nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by two sons John and Luke, and a grandson Mark.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday March 25 at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City celebrated by the Rev. Seth Wasnock. Friends may visit at the church from 9:30 am until mass time.
